Fun Things to do in Denver

Mile-High City, Here We Come! I was so excited when we decided that our next trip was going to be Denver. We chose the Mile-High City because first of all–we needed to get out of this 106 degree Dallas weather. Also, we knew that the scenery was going to offer us a perfect opportunity to clear our minds and get outside. So, we got on the road at 3 am and made the 12-hour drive. All Aboard–Denver’s Union Station! If you Google “Things to do…

    Girls’ Day Brunch

Make Time: Girls’ Day Brunch If you remember my blog series called “What 30 Year Old Candice Would Tell 20 Year Old Candice,” you’d remember Lesson 3: Make Time for the Ones You Love. April 22, 2018 was not only Earth Day, it was the day that marked four years since my best friend, Gina Luciano passed away. I also used that day to join some of my favorite friends for a girls’ day brunch in the comfort of my friend’s, (Jessica’s) home. No Need…

My Visit to Alcatraz Federal Prison

Alcatraz, AKA “The Rock” I used to visit San Francisco as a child with my family. As many times as I’ve gone, I have never gotten to see Alcatraz. I was so happy when Alcatraz Cruises offered me this amazing opportunity. Visiting Alcatraz is just something you have to do when you’re in San Francisco. I was amazed and surprised by all of the little gems and interesting facts I learned along the way. I don’t want to give everything away, but I do want to share…

    My San Francisco Trip: Chinatown

Chinatown, SF–Where I Learned Culture Makes the World Go ’round We went to Chinatown on the last day the trip because I heard it was one of the coolest places to see. The Uber ride was somewhat long. Along the way, I looked at my surroundings and saw no sign of this quaint section of town. After a sharp right turn, Chinatown seemed to appear out of nowhere. The sky was filled with red lanterns. The sounds of traditional Asian-inspired music filled the air with…

Lesson 3: Make Time for the Ones you Love

As I get closer to turning 30 and I reflect on the last 10 years of my life, I realize how quickly and suddenly life just went by. I think about how different things are today and how I could have done things differently. Mostly, I think about how short and precious life really is. Lesson 3 of  What 30 year old Me would tell Myself in my 20’s is, “Make Time for the Ones you Love.” This is a hard, valuable lesson that hit…

    “Woman Up”

“Woman up,” “Boss up,” “Man up…” are one in the same. Take a look at your life and reflect on all of the challenges that life has thrown your way–I mean really think about them. Crazy, right? You’re also probably saying to yourself, “I didn’t know how I was going to get through that.” But you did–am I right? No matter what the consequences were of the choices you had to make to get through that obstacle, here you are today. At the end of…

    “Don’t Cheat Yourself, Baby Girl”

As I get closer and closer to the day I turn 30 (November 29th) I am going to be sharing a few important lessons I learned in the 2nd decade of my life. “Don’t cheat yourself, baby girl” is something I repeat in my mind anytime a bad thought or doubt tries to kill my vibe. It’s what I wish I would have told myself more because these five words transform the way I go about my life today. As young children, we’re raised to…

    My Getaway in Cozumel, Mexico

I went snorkeling in Cozumel, Mexico with my love, OJ and the trip was filled with emotions and adrenaline that I’ll never forget. I ALMOST hesitated and turned around to bask in the sun, but thanks to OJ, I took the plunge and conquered my fears! Part 1: You said how many feet? After climbing into a random limo with complete strangers, we made it to the retreat and followed the guide to an area where we would receive our gear, attend a short safety…
