“No Makeup, Makeup”
Because of my “get up and go” lifestyle, I don’t give myself enough time to put on a full face of makeup. I’m also the type of person who chooses an extra few minutes of sleep over putting on a full face. I prefer the “no makeup, makeup” look when it comes to my makeup routine. I use the basics: primer, concealer, tinted moisturizer, a slight touch of highlight and blush. If it happens to be a day where I need to add a little bit more, I wear eye shadow and pack on the highlight. Eye shadow is rare for me and it’s usually a somewhat big deal if I’m wearing it. No matter what look I go with, it’s important to me that my skin has a natural looking glow. These are the products I use for my everyday makeup look. First and Foremost…
Before I apply any makeup, I make sure my face is washed and moisturized. I also use a serum for my eye area and I apply it using my jade roller. After that, I use my Origins Pore Perfecting Cooling Primer. Any good primer that works for your skin type will do. I like the Origins product because it feels soothing on my skin and I do see a difference in the size of my pores.
I’m sure lots of people would agree with me when I say that eyebrows are important. I have been using Anastasia Beverly Hills Dipbow Pomade for years and I love it. I use an angled brush to apply along my brown line and fill it in to create a full effect.
It’s All in the Eyes
If you’ve read my post about eyelash extensions, you know that I love lash extensions because of how much time they save me. I do have some dark circles so I use two products–Maybelline Master Camo Color Correcting Pallette (in medium) and Sephora’s Bright Future Gel Concealer.
First, I use the ‘Correct’ section from the Maybelline Master Camo Color Correcting Pallette. I just use my ring finger to blend it on the dark areas under my eyes. You’ll quickly notice that your eyes are brighter, which is what I like about this product.
Then, I take a small amount of my Sephora concealer and use my ring finger to go over the same area I just covered with the Maybelline product. Sephora’s concealer is really lightweight and blends really easily.
Finally for my eyes, instead of using a dark-colored eyeliner pencil I use NYX’s Wonder Pencil in ‘Light,’ which is almost nude-colored. The reason I like to go with a brighter eyeliner pencil for my everyday makeup is because it gives your eyes a more ‘bright-eyed’ and awake look. I’ve seen some people use white pencil as well, but this Wonder Pencil by NYX has always worked well for me. What’s really cool about this pencil is that you can also use it to line your lips to keep your lipstick from going outside of your lip line.
I don’t use foundation. When it comes to my makeup, less is more. I do use a tinted moisturizer by Makeup Forever called Ultra HD Perfector. It’s basically a lotion based product with a little bit of tint in it. It also has sunscreen in it so that’s a plus. Again–I love lightweight makeup and that’s what I really love about this moisturizer.
To complete my look, I just add a touch of highlight and blush. Fenty Beauty by Rihanna does not disappoint with her Match Stix. I got mine in ‘Rum’ and all I do is take a powder brush, brush it over the product and sweep it over the bridge of my nose.
For my blush, I have been using a blush from the Modelco + Karl Lagerfield collaboration. I don’t know if you can get this anymore, but ColourPop Cosmetics has a great line of blushes that I really like. I’ve linked them below.
I finish off with a dust of setting powder–again, I use Makeup Forever’s HD powder.
One word–Carmex. I don’t wear lipstick every day, but when I do, I like to choose a neutral pink or nude color. The one I’m wearing for this look is by The Beauty Crop and it’s their Lip Brulee in Salted Caramel. The thing about me and lipstick–I don’t believe in re-applying. Once it’s off, it’s off but what I like about The Beauty Crop’s Lip Brulee is that even though it’s glossy, it stays on and it glides on smoothly. My lips also don’t feel dry after a few hours.
